Used Motor Homes for Sale-Find them at Local Dealers and Online

If you are a savvy RV shopper looking for used motor homes for sale there are several options, but some are better than others. However, before you even begin searching for used motor homes for sale you should take time to think about what your priorities are in a motor home. First, what Class appeals to you? Class A’s are the motor coaches (diesel and gas) and are generally the most luxurious, roomy and expensive. Class B’s are the camper vans which are practical, but can also be a good investment for beginning RVers. Class C’s are the mini motor homes. They are also good starter RVs. Used motor homes for sale can be found for every lifestyle and budget.

A used motor home benefits from the vehicle depreciation factor. As you know, as soon as a brand new vehicle leaves the lot it depreciates. This is not true for a used motor home when it leaves the dealer lot. It has already depreciated before you bought it making a used motor home a good bargain. However, you need to be careful when purchasing a motor home that is over 3 years old. It may be harder to get used RV financing.

Local dealers can be a wonderful source for used motor homes for sale. You can visit the dealer and take a look at the different makes and models they have available and see what features you do and don’t like. With a local dealer you will be able to get customer service after the sale very easily on any of the used motor homes for sale. You can also benefit from talking to other local RV owners who have purchased from the dealer to ask about their experiences.

Online dealers of used motor homes for sale make it possible for buyers across the country to find the RV of their dreams. They can also find many tools available online to help with their purchase of used motor homes for sale including an online RV financing calculator to estimate monthly payments and lenders who will take your application online and get back to you within a few days.

With a private seller you may be able to get the lowest price on used motor homes for sale, but you will need to exercise a great deal of trust in the seller for the maintenance and condition of the vehicle. You will have to find your own financing. You may not have the benefit of a warranty either. This is probably one of the riskiest ways of buying used motor homes for sale.

Keep in mind that when you buy a used motor home, the lender will probably want to have someone come and inspect it to verify the value, just as they would with a home. If they don’t approve you may not get the loan.

Use good judgment and a used motor home can be a great buy.

Motor Homes

If you are considering of becoming a motor home owner soon and you are interested in listing your future investment’s features, it is perhaps wise to begin by examining their different types, or motor home vehicles’ categories, in order to consider which one will better cover your present or future needs. There are three basic types of motor homes, or else called recreational vehicles (RVs), which are generally used for vacating purposes; hence the term “recreational.” Whichever the category one selects to buy the issue here is that these temporary traveling homes are a great way to experience the world and not sacrifice any of the amenities usually found in a hotel room.

While motor homes are categorized into several different types, a minimal RV typically contains beds, a table, a food preparation space and storage compartments. Larger models offer full bathrooms, installed refrigerators, living and sleeping areas, satellite television and internet access capabilities. Ranging in size and prices, there are basically three kinds of motor homes. Class A consists of bus-type custom body vehicles build on a truck chassis and look like busses. Class B motor homes are mainly van campers and travel trailers, while finally Class C RVs are called mini-motor homes and due to their smaller size are much easier to handle on the road and fit nicely in large car parking spots. Having an “L” shaped trailer these motor homes are mostly seen in roads and preferred by most potential motor home buyers.

Having multiple advantages like that one is not forced to move ones things in and out of hotel rooms, is not committed to find and rent multiple rooms to visit different areas and the fact that preparing food always saves money, recreational vehicles are becoming extremely desirable for those wishing not to exceed a certain budget limit. At the same time, RVs provide more organized living spaces and protects its habitats from the extreme weather conditions tend campers have to endure. On the other hand, the low fuel economy, the lack of having a maid service taking care of the daily clutter and the fact that larger motor homes can be difficult to handle on the streets or inside parking lots, might be viewed as disadvantages a potential motor home owner would have to consider before purchasing one.

Considering the above, the great mobility opportunity a recreational vehicle offers cannot be easily matched. Combining the advantages of a home and a car in one transportation vehicle is the original idea that has gained supporters all over the world. Whether one prefers to park his or her RV at locations in remote rural areas, public campgrounds, or specialty designed RV facilities, the ability to be always able to relocate has won the majority of the votes.

Types of Motorhomes

Though there may be several designs and flavors of motorhomes, they are technically classified as type A, type B, type C or bus conversions. All the types are motorised homes but each has different features and capacity to suit different purposes and budgets. A motohome can measure 21 to 45 feet.

The type A is the largest of all and comes loaded with facilities and high end equipment for long trips and can be used as permanet abode by any person. It is built on special chassis and may cost $57,000 to $1.4 m.

It has a gallery, living area, sleeping quarters, permanent sanitary facilities. There is power, back up batteries, water holding tanks and an onboard generator.

The class A is highly spacious and that allows it to have extra comforts like a refrigerator, washer-dryer, large-screen TV, computerized leveling system, satellite navigation system, satellite dish, slideout room extension and large storage bays.

One major disadvantage of the class a type is that it is not manoeverable due to its length and bulkiness. Again, it is too low and therefore unsuitable for rugged environments.

The type B is like a converted van and can be said to be the smallest in the range of self contained motorhomes. It is basically a truck which had been modified to have sleeping, living and dining rooms. The price range for this class is between $42,000 to $73,000 and measures 16 to 34 feet.

The class B is easy to drive and therefore manoeverable. If you need to do a lot of turning and visiting small communities on the trip, this is the ideal one as it can driven around any corner and also manage sharp turns. It is suitable for short stay camping and smaller groups of say 3.

The limitation is that you have less space, and a low ceiling which means you cannot transport objects that stand tall. You also have a small gas tank which will require refueling a lot.

Type C is a small motorhome mounted on the chassis of a van. It also offers a living room, kitchen, bathroom and bedroom. Though they can offer all the comforts of class A motorhome, they look crammed. The type C cannot have full size beds but come with bunker types. They are easy to manoevre and can manage sharp turns or narrow roads.

It cost about $48,000 to $139,000 and measure 20 to 35 feet.

The bus conversions are full size buses converted to a motorhome. This type is most suitable for large group camping. Their large size enables them to have luxury sofas and most of the bulky comforts of a home.

They scost between $100,000 to $1m and measure 35 to 45 feet.

The choice of a motorhome will depend on so many factors including budget, your needs assessment and whether or not you ned manoeverability or not.

Motor Home Destination - Blanding - Utah's Desert Country

Maybe you've never heard of Blanding, Utah, but you've probably heard of Mesa Verde, Monument Valley, the Four Corners, Lake Powell and Moab. Well, Blanding is a small town that is big with motor home enthusiasts, because it sits in the middle of the southeastern Utah desert, right in the middle of all these attractions.

Aside from the tourist destinations already mentioned, Blanding puts you within spitting distance of Arches National Park, Capitol Reef National Park, Natural Bridges National Monument, Hovenweep, Goosenecks State Park, Rainbow Bridge, Valley Of The Gods and the Grand Canyon. Add to this the fact that the area around this little town offers some of the prettiest desert scenery you'll see anywhere, and you can easily see why so many motor home owners are heading there when it's vacation time.

Blanding is more than just pretty scenery. Though small, the town boasts some unique cultural attractions that you won't want to miss. The Edge of the Cedars State Park, near the Four Corners, has ancient artifacts from the Anasazi Indians who lived here centuries ago. They also have a reconstructed kiva that you can go into and feel the ghosts of the past around you. There is also a Dinosaur Museum that has unusual fossils and bones, as well as a life-sized reproduction of T. Rex, and baby dinosaurs.

There are also lots of activities to make your stay fun and memorable. Blanding has hiking, mountain biking, river rafting, jeeping and great camping.

Best of all, the Blanding area has scenic drives. The Abajo Loop goes across the mountains, taking you up over a pass at 9,000 feet before descending into the Canyonlands National Park. The Elks Ridge Road Scenic Byway gives you a chance to see some unusual rock formations like the "Bear's Ears" and the bridges at Natural Bridges, New Mexico. The Trail of the Ancients Scenic Byway takes you through 130 miles of Utah's most rugged desert. The road is well paved and has very little traffic due to its isolation, so you can stop along the way anytime and take in the amazing scenery.

There are lots of places to stay in Blanding where motor homes are welcome. Here are some of the most popular.

Cross Canyon Ranch - This RV park has 115 hook-ups. It is quiet and peaceful, with full hook-ups, flushing toilets, facilities for dumping, and drinking water. They are open all year.

Dalton Springs - This beautiful campground is located right in the middle of the Abajo Mountains, five miles west of Monticello. Operated by the National Forest Service, Dalton Springs is open from May through October. It has 16 sites for RV's and the nightly rate is $7. Devil's Canyon Campground - This campground is also located near Monticello, 11 miles to the south, and operated by the Forest Service. It is open only during the summer months of June through September. There are 33 sites and the fee is $10.

Motor Home Accessories

Once you own a motorhome, there will come the need for some accessories to either enhance the performance of the vehicle or to replace a defective one. There are several accessories to buy when it comes to motorhomes including trailers and tires, camping equipment, towing equipment, refrigerators, camping supplies, RV televisions, carriers ladders, leveling jacks, interior and exterior lights, sun visors and wheel covers.

For motorhome owners there is the need to give your vehicle maximum protection from the water with high quality undercoat that will ensure that it is protected form rust.

The motorhome may also need to be fitted with plumbing accessories so you don’t have to hassle too much over defective taps and storage tanks. You can purchse all of your plumbing from local stores and have it fixed up by a plumber.

If you are renting, then you can be on the lookout for a motorhome that has the following accessories as these will ensure you have a comfortable stay. You should inspect the motorhome you want to rent for the following accessories: beds, wardrobes, sofa, and storage space, living/ kitchen accessories, televison shelf, etc.

If your motor home has not got a roof vent, you can arange to have that have that accessory so you can have circulating air to prevent stuffiness in the rooms.

Perhaps the most purchased accessory for motorhomes is a trailer which needs to be carefully researched before puchase.

Before you buy a trailer for your motorhome, be sure to check out the following points to make you get a good deal and also to make sure you buy right.

First find out if the trailer meets the towing capacity of your vehicle. If it exceeds, you will put extra drain on engine of your vehicle which may lead to a beakdown or shortened life span.

Check to see the maximum load the trailer can carry and see if it is enough for the type of load you want to carry most of the time.

Examine the trailer design to see if it will fit the shape and length of the items you want to carry. Double-axle trailers are good for sail boats whilst single ones are good for light items like a tent kit.

Buying accessories for a motorhome follow the same mechanics like you do for any other purchse. The best recommendation is to determine your needs and buy appropriately so you have uninterrepted use of the items during your camping.

Types Of Motor Homes - A Quick Guide To Buying The Best Motor Home For You

Motor homes are great for seeing the country and traveling in luxury and style. They give you the freedom to go anywhere you want. You can see the great outdoors without compromising your safety and comfort.

There are lots of choices available. Motor homes come in all shapes and sizes. There are almost as any models as there are drivers! Let's take a closer look at what's out there.

Which Class Is Best For You?

Recreational vehicles comes in 3 different classes: Class A, Class B and Class C. It's really important to know which is which when you're shopping for your new home-on-wheels.

Class A - These are the big daddies. What we're talking about here are the bus-looking vehicles you see vying for space with Mac trucks on the highway. Class A motor homes are the biggest ones made.

As you might expect by looking at one, Class A motor homes are the biggest and most luxurious. Depending on how much you want to pay, you can get a little castle on wheels with a Class A.

Class B - Class B vehicles are about the same size as vans. Sometimes, they are nothing more than vans with a raised roof added on.

These trailers are small, so you can park them anywhere. You can also park most of them easily in your garage. If you have a Class B vehicle, you can drive it around town if you want to. They're not much bigger than full-size vans.

Class C - Whereas A's and B's are built on their own chassis, Class C motor homes are built on an ordinary truck or van chassis, with a big section attached to it for living quarters. These are also called mini-motor homes.

Class C Motor Homes are often considered to be the safest on the market for driving. This is because they carry standard safety features such as airbags and seat belts.

Towable Trailers - Some people find that a towable trailer, one that can be pulled along behind your regular vehicle, is more convenient for their trips. The great thing about a towable trailer is that you can unhook it when you get set up at camp. Then, you can drive your car or truck around and sightsee without having to drag your home with you.

Travel Trailers and Fifth Wheels - These are trailers that are attached to a regular vehicle and towed. The difference between a travel trailer and a fifth wheel is that the fifth wheel is designed to attach specifically to a pickup truck bed. These models are big and roomy.

Fifth wheels are the most popular towable trailers because they require little set up, and they are more luxurious than other models. These are great for first-time motor home buyers.

Pop-up Campers - These are smaller trailers that can be pulled by any car. When you get where you're going, the trailer folds out into a motor home. The roof comes up, the sides come out, and the little trailer becomes your home. They go by many names, like tent camper, or fold-up.

These campers are most convenient for some motor home owners because they are light. This means that while driving, they are easier to maneuver than other models. They can also be pulled by pretty much any car, no matter how small.

Which motor home is best for you? It all depends on what you plan to do with it. If you want a light model you can tow behind your car and detach when you get settled into camp, go with a pop-up. If you want real luxury and the full RV experience, you definitely want a Class A motor home. Or, maybe a Class B or C might suit your driving needs better.

Whatever you decide on, hurry up and get that baby up and running. We got camping to do!

Motor Homes, RVs and Recreational Vehicles in Idaho

The State of Idaho is a wonderful place to go and see by recreational vehicle. Boise Idaho is the capital of Idaho and there are many museums and the state capitol building is truly impressive. The downtown life is also fun and they have many great restaurants. The drive from Boise Montana on Highway 55 to Highway 95 into Lewiston Idaho is very pretty and you'll pass through some really cool little towns.

Another great drive is from Hailey Idaho to Missoula Montana, which takes you through the Sawtooth National Recreation Area and along the Salmon River. Another wonderful place in Idaho is Twin Falls and the falls are truly spectacular. Idaho Falls also has some neat scenery and a National Park Interpretive Center with listings of all the campgrounds and great places to see, as Idaho borders the Yellowstone National Park.

Northern Idaho is very cool and you will want to stop in Coeur d Alene. There is an Indian museum down the road and the downtown area is extremely exciting. The old hotel on the water is still there and the view is breathtaking. I recommend that anyone who travels in an RV that they go and check out Idaho. Please consider this in 2006.

How Can I Make Money Delivering Motor Homes?

Are you a professional driver but really do not wish to drive a bus load of people or a truck 1,000s of miles per week across the country? Well have you ever thought of delivering motor homes across the country instead? Here are a couple of the companies that I have heard pay substantial monies to delivery drivers.

  1. Fleetwood in Orlando Florida
  2. Beaver Motor Coach Company
  3. Feather Light Race Car Trailers
  4. Prevost Motor Coaches

Pick up an FMAC Magazine. Nearly all companies who sell Motor Homes have similar deals during peak seasons and many all year around. I have met two people on the road. One in Edinburgh, AZ at the Flying J we talked for an hour in the middle of the night and another one at a Truck Stop on I-70 in Kansas both being paid to deliver with the $2500 figure, wow?

I met another interesting gentleman coming out of Indiana 90 miles to the KY border delivering a coach and told me he was being paid very well. I have met people on nearly every single cross country trip I have been on at some fuel stop in the middle of nowhere with a Motor Home with no plates that they were delivering to a customer or dealer.

This is not "unknown" industry knowledge. There are companies who specialize in this. Many from UT and TX who tow and deliver new 5th wheel trailers which is another variation of the Industry. I think there are probably even dispatching companies out there like the trucking companies have who help drivers pick up return loads or less than load deliveries, I am sure of it, it is a natural progression of the need.

There currently is a 185,000 truck driver shortage in the US, so the need for drivers who can get the job done is series. Would you like more information on RVs?

Caravans and Motorhomes

Being a webmaster of a very popular camping and caravanning website I will get asked many questions on a daily basis and there does always tend to be a recurring theme amongst most of them, namely what is the difference between X type of caravan and Y type of caravan. Well here I hope to explain all of this in some detail so that it will hopefully clear up some of the confusion.

There are only really a few different types of caravans that are worthy of mention, mainly because the other type only generally make up no more than 0.1% of caravans, these being static caravans, touring caravans, motorhomes and park homes.

Static Caravans are generally between 20x8feet (length x width) and 38x14feet and on the whole are placed on a plot of a caravan park for the majority of their lives. Static caravans are not towable on public roads unless a support vehicle is behind the caravan and the roads are rated at over the weight of the caravan, as such they are generally transported on the back of lorries to and from locations. Static caravans are likely to have a lot of modern conveniences that you would expect from a modern home including double glazing, central heating and winter insulation.

Touring caravans are towable by average cars with a tow ball and can be towed to a caravan park where they will generally pay a nightly fee to hire a plot for the duration of their holiday. Touring caravans range from around 9x6feet (length x width) to 16x9feet, as they are towable they have much smaller footprints than static caravans and are made to be much lighter and compact. Due to the size and weight constraints tourers will have less conveniences than a static caravan but newer touring caravans are more and more commonly being manufactured with showers, fridge /freezers, central heating and air conditioning.

Motorhomes are normally roughly the same size of a touring caravan but with an engine, gearbox and all the things needed to drive itself from location to location. A motorhome is essentially a tourer and a car mixed into one neat little package, note that a motorhome in europe is vastly different to a motorhome in America (also know as an R.V or recreational vehicle) as they tend to be huge in comparison. A motorhome will range vastly in size depending on its application, some will be no larger than a regular touring caravan whereas others will be the size of a large bus.

Park Homes and Lodges are more similar to a static caravan than any other type mentioned before as they are comparable in size and the features that are available to them as standard though they will be moved around a lot less than a static caravan and generally will be of a higher spec, and also price. Things such as double glazing, air conditioning, central heating and other luxury features will be a lot more common as a standard feature in park homes and lodges. Park homes also have an advantage over static caravans in that they can increase their value over time making them more akin to a house than a caravan, despite the construction of them being more caravan like.

I am an avid caravanner and love nothing more than getting away for the weekend with my wife and kids. It is this love for caravanning and camping that drove me to create my free to use website http://www.icaravans.com where anyone can advertise their caravan park or caravans and motorhome for hire or sale. I hope you enjoy my article as I spent a lot of time writing it. My family business is also in caravan sales so if you are looking to buy a static caravan please visit http://www.skegness-caravansales.co.uk thank you for taking the time to read my first article, I hope you will enjoy the ones I plan to publish in the future.

Finding Parts for Old Motor Homes; RV Junkyards and Recycling

If you own an older motor home you may have problems finding parts because those models are no longer need built or the manufacturer has gone out of business. Even if you own a new recreational vehicle you may want to find stronger and sturdier parts that are no longer offered on the newer motor homes, but they used to be used on other older motor home series. This is when a good motor home junkyard comes in handy.

Believe it or not there are a lot of motor home junkyards in the United States and they make great places to get parts. Some recreational vehicle junkyards have motor homes that are over 30 years old and that means you can find nearly any part you need. The junkyards are well known to those RV repair shops, which will use them to get parts when they cannot find a part in the catalog they need to repair someone's motor home or recreational vehicle.

There are very large recreational vehicle and motor home junkyards in 13 states and many junkyards do have motor homes in them although they are not specializing in only recreational vehicles. If you need an obscure part for your motor home it makes sense to cruise the junkyards.

I have only been to two RV junkyards. But in each case I had found things that were very valuable and cost very little. Parts, which were stronger than anything you see in the market today. Things I could not get anywhere else and they were not listed in any catalog. Perhaps you might consider this in 2006 and help the world recycle all those old RVs.

A Beginner's Guide to Motorhomes

Are you just starting out in motorhoming? Attracted to the idea but not sure what type of motorhome will suit you?

A good starting point is to understand the different types of motorhome - there are three main types of design.

1. Hightop Van Conversions

Often referred to as campervans, van conversions are generally the smallest and cheapest type of motorhome - which can be an advantage.

Based on so-called panel vans, such as the Ford Transit and the Fiat Ducato, they are generally only a little larger than a family car and are relatively easy to drive, manoeuvre and park - unlike some of their bigger cousins.

Modern conversions are usually very well specified - with heating, toilet, kitchen, running water and often a shower. The only catch is that all of these things are packed into a relatively small space - great for driving but sometimes a little cramped for living in.

Van conversion motorhomes are ideal for the more adventurous or for short breaks, but not necessarily the best choice for luxury or for families.

2. C-Class or Coachbuilt Motorhomes

Coachbuilt motorhomes (sometimes known as Class-C motorhomes) are effectively caravans built onto the back of a van cab and chassis - it may sound a bit Heath Robinson, but these are extremely well made, cleverly-designed and comfortable. They also offer surprising amounts of space, especially when it comes to sleeping berths.

A coachbuilt is probably the best choice for a family, with the overcab area providing ideal sleeping accommodation for children, and the larger interiors giving enough room for 4-6 people to sit and eat.

These motorhomes also tend to have larger kitchens and bathrooms - their extra width helps create more spacious layouts.

3. A-Class or Integrated Motorhomes

The luxury liners of the motorhome world, A-Class motorhomes are purpose-built from the chassis up - apart from the driving controls, there is no trace of "van" about these vehicles - instead they are luxury motorised homes. They are usually a similar size to C-Class motorhomes, but often have only two or three berths - designed for adults to travel in considerable comfort, rather than for fitting large families.

Of course, there are exceptions and A-class motorhomes offering 4-6 berths can also be found. Historically not so popular in the UK, they are becoming more common and have always been so in Europe.

I Almost Forgot…RVs

In principle, American RVs (Recreational Vehicles) are the same as A-Class motorhomes. The difference is in their scale and in the base vehicles used. RVs are built on lorry or coach chassis' and have extremely luxurious interiors, with every facility built in (normally including an on-board generator).

They are extremely large, expensive and luxurious - don't expect to go exploring on European backroads in one of these, as it won't fit. Road tax, fuel costs and insurance will also be considerably higher, as will road tolls.

Making the Choice

Whatever you choose, don't rush into it and make sure you understand the true cost of ownership - including storage (if it is too big for your driveway), insurance, breakdown cover and servicing.

Consider renting a motorhome for a holiday first to see if you like it - a week or two can teach you a lot about what type of motorhome suits you and enables you to try before you buy.

Motorhoming is a great way to travel around the UK and Europe - I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.

myLocalMotorhomeHire.co.uk provides independent information on motorhome hire in the UK and Europe.

It is especially aimed at first-time renters and those who are not experienced with motorhomes and is completely free.

Vacating In Motor Homes

Every working individual spends a great amount of money each year to purchase a vacations package at a tourist resort anywhere in the world in order to relax, rejuvenate and leave the stress and anxiety of everyday business behind. However, as much as one might relax at a sunny beach somewhere or enjoy the view from a hotel located on a mountain top, it is certain he or she will have to face a probably rather large bill when the “dream” vacations are unfortunately over. For this and many other reasons, more and more vacationers decide to become motor home owners and reduce their financial deficits over time.

Having to pay daily only for gas and perhaps parking or camping area costs considerably lowers one’s budget and allows for more things to take place. Cutting down vacation costs, however, is only one reason to consider becoming a motor home vehicle owner. Apart from paying an overpriced hotel room, owning a motor home can be a thrilling experience both for families and individuals. Having the ability to pack your bags and drive your motor home wherever you please adds the feeling of excitement and adventure to the equation. In addition, it is, according to many happy campers, pretty fantastic to have the opportunity of traveling with your family or friends and not having to reserve or stress over tickets or hotel availability. Owning a recreational vehicle, the other name for motor home vehicle, allows people to spend as much time as they please to the destination of their liking, without having to pack their bags before they go off to experience something new.

But why should one consider investing in a recreational vehicle, instead of getting in his or her car and drive away? Well, simple things, like the fact that motor home vehicles have less glass than cars, so they do not heat up as fast when parked under the sun, may give another perspective to motor home argument. Due to shades, or curtains, the greenhouse effect is further reduced. Some even have fans or air-condition units that reduce heat inside the space of the vehicle and create a comfortable place for one to live in. Mobility is the next argument, which cannot be easily surpassed. Driving away is always an option and the fact that you do not have to stress about finding another hotel room or packing bags, makes things so much simpler. Finally, recreational vehicles are usually spacious and offer most of the contemporary amenities. With interchangeable features, the morning bench can easily and quickly become the night’s bed, while the luxury of having a bathroom and a kitchen can only be part of the positive things list.

Whether you are an adventurer, have photography as your hobby, or just want to experience the great outdoors with your family and friends, entering a recreational vehicle and driving away can be part of your long weekend plans and not a practice limited to your summer vacations. But before spending some of your life’s savings on a RV, rent one, try it and if you love it, buy it!

Motor Homes - Make Yours Green

You might think that all recreational vehicles are giant energy-wasting gas guzzlers. And while you probably don't want to make your daily work commute via RV, taking a motor home vacation is not going to punch a hole through the ozone layer. If you think that recreational vehicles are just eco-hazards on wheels, you'll be surprised to know that there are many ways to convert your motor home into an earth-friendly vehicle. A few simple tips, like the ones here, can help ensure that your RV trip is environmentally friendly.

  1. Don't waste fuel. Maximize your RV's fuel efficiency by checking the tire air pressure, keeping your vehicle up to date on oil changes and maintenance, and driving safely. If your vehicle is in top notch condition, it will get better gas mileage. Having maps or a GPS system handy will also help minimize unnecessary driving if you happen to get lost. They can also help when you're having trouble finding a suitable campsite for your motor home.
  2. Plan your travels according to the weather. If it's cold, head south. In the heat, drive north. That way you'll stay comfortable and not have to rely on running costly, energy-sucking air conditioners and heaters. To optimize the climate inside your RV even further, consider having solar panels installed on the roof. They can help your motor home run on sun power. Make sure your RV is well insulated and sealed also.
  3. Rough it out. Your motor home may be outfitted with the latest technology and comforts, but you didn't drive hundreds of miles away from home to eat another TV dinner. Avoid using TVs, microwaves, and any other energy-consumer if you really don't have to. The same is true for battery operated devices. You don't want to drain them either. Use the opportunity to learn how to cook over an open flame, build campfires or play board games instead of watching DVDs.
  4. Turn your RV into a recycling center. Just because you're on the road, doesn't mean you shouldn't separate aluminum and plastic. Don't use disposable items if you don't have to. Buy reusable glasses and dishes and wash them once finished. You can also outfit the inside of your RV with recycled goods and furniture. Sharing and trading goods with fellow campers you meet along the way can also be helpful.
  5. Learn how to conserve necessities. Besides energy, you can also learn how to adapt by conserving water and food. Once you begin your travels, you'll find there are times when you simply have no easy access to certain items, making you more aware of how you use them.
  6. Dispose of waste appropriately. If you create waste, make sure you dispose of it properly. Sometimes you just can't recycle or reuse something. When that happens, make sure it gets put in a trash bag. Also, invest in some eco-friendly products to clean up your mess. With some careful planning and attentiveness, your motor home can become a green machine. Ignore the finger wagging commuters in SUVs. Talking to fellow RV enthusiasts on your travels can reveal even more ways that you can contribute to the environment.

Three Places You're Sure to Find Motorhomes in the US

The U.S. is a vast nation with a wide network of national parks and historic landmarks that appeal to many travelers. What better way to see some of America's most notable spots than with a motorhome? Motorhomes are, basically, homes away from homes in which travelers can pack their family and friends for a prolonged road trip in style.

Each motorhome model varies in features and accessories, but can usually sleep up to eight passengers comfortably, making the motorhome a cost-saving and efficient way to see America up close and personal. If you're just getting into motorhome travel or have been vacationing in motorhomes for years, be sure to hit up these popular trips for motorhome trekkers:

Yellowstone National Park

Perhaps more than anywhere else in the country, you'll find a plethora of motorhomes in Yellowstone National Park. Yellowstone is home to some of the country's most celebrated wonders, including wildlife, geysers and hot springs. No matter what time of year you head to this well-trafficked national park, you're sure to find something to hold your interest.

One of the reasons that so many travelers choose to vacation in Yellowstone from motorhomes is because of the scarcity of camping sites and hotels within the park itself. Campers often have to book their campsites months in advance, and even hotels can be hard to afford, if they are available. However, a motorhome offers comfortable accommodations anywhere, anytime, facilitating a worry-free trip for all involved.

Route 66

Route 66 is the nation's most celebrated cross-country roads, which connects the east coast to the west coast and back again. The route, which was made famous in the mid twentieth century through popular culture music and artifacts, winds through scenic towns, such as Flagstaff, Arizona, and takes travelers through mile after mile of America's beautiful country side. Folks in motorhomes can drive into one of the many motorhome parks or they can pull into a parking lot for a few hours of sleep before taking in another day of this historical landmark highway.

Interstate 95

How can you get from Key West to Bangor, Maine without turning right? Find Interstate 95! I-95 is the one and only road that connects the east coast's southern-most point to its northern-most point, making it one of the nation's most travelled highways. Drivers will roll through countryside, wine country, sunny beaches, and steep mountains while taking their motorhomes up and down I-95. Plus, with the copious truck stops along the way, motorhome travelers will always have a safe place to pull over for a night's rest.

No matter what you plan to do with your motorhome vacation, be sure to take a full tank of gas, fridge full of snacks, and camera. You'll love winding through the country's back roads, speeding along the highways, and stopping for a comfortable night's rest - even when a hotel isn't in sight. Efficiency, comfort, and style are three attributes for which motorhomes will always be known.

Motor Home Traveling - What You Should Know

Time to plan that family vacation; consider going in a motor home where you will find all the comforts of home and ease in traveling. Motor homes are equipped with the things that you need along the way and are best suited for children. The children can play games, eat their meals and watch television while you are driving down the highway. This means of transportation makes your destination easier to get there because you find that you make fewer stops. You may think that this expensive way to travel because of the cost of gasoline but in reality, it is cheaper when you consider in the cost of motels and restaurants. You can provide your family with comfortable sleeping, good food and activity at about what it would cost if you stayed at home. Yu find along the way there are places that you can spend the night with your motor home and it will not cost you to stay. I know that places like Sam's Club and Wal-Mart permit you to park in there parking lot overnight without cost. Other businesses provide the same service if you need to park and rest before going on towards your destination. There are campgrounds that you can use and connect to in order to take showers etc.

When you do arrive at your destination vacation spot normally, the cost to park your motor home is not expensive unlike the cost of staying at a motel. You are able to go to many places and share many adventures in your motor home with your family making your vacation a memorable time in your family's life. You can pack bicycles on top of your motor home to make getting around much easier finding more places to visit after you have arrived at your vacation destination. You may also use tow bars and take along your car using it for transportation when you have arrived at your vacation destination. You should always search out transportation resources for where you plan on going as you may find that in some areas shuttle bus service is available or other modes that you can use. In any case, once you get to your vacation destination the cost to stay is very low letting you use your funds to do things that are more interesting. There are many exciting places to visit and experiences you will find that are great for your whole family as you drive along in your motor home that you cannot see if you are flying. When you are planning your family leisure trip, remember you can stop at more places and enjoy more sights than any other mode of transportation. Enjoy your family vacation in the motor home of your choice and "happy traveling."

Motor Home Awnings

Motor home awnings are usually firmly attached to one side, mostly on the right side of the living accommodations. The awnings are available in open or enclosed varieties. The enclosable types have fabric or plastic covers at the front and two sides, which allow some privacy to the users. The awnings usually have electrical wiring extended from the motor home to provide lighting during the evening sit outs.

Motor homes are synonymous to camper homes, trailer homes, and even Recreation Vehicles (RVs). In the U.S., they are divided in three classes. First is, Class A motor home, which is constructed on a commercial truck chassis, a specially designed motor vehicle chassis, or a commercial bus chassis. The second is Class B motor home, which is built using a standard van, usually modified with a raised roof or a relatively low-profile body. The third is Class C motor home, which is built on a truck chassis with an attached van type section. The truck chassis may be a pickup or even a large freightliner.

Many motor home owners stay at special motor home parks for a couple of months at a time. These parks usually provide full hookup service for electricity, water and sewerage, and even cable television and wireless Internet connection. The motor home parks offer many amenities, including swimming pools, recreation rooms, and some times even resort-like activities such as horseback riding. The parks allow their customers to erect awnings adjacent to their motor homes. However, staying at such a motor home is usually quite expensive. Therefore many people prefer to stay at public campgrounds with minimal facilities, or at rural or remote locations.

Motor home awnings are usually custom made to suit the length of a specific motor home. Many times, they come pre-installed to the side of the motor home as an accessory. They are usually lightweight retractable type with manual or motorized operating mechanisms.

Motor Homes

Few things are better than traveling, enjoying, and staying close to nature. Whether it is for an outing with friends and family or on some work, motor homes makes such dreams come true. With all the comforts and luxuries of home, they help make a working assignment more easy and a family outing more enjoyable.

Hundreds of companies provide different types, sizes, designs, and colors of motor homes. Tiffin Motor Homes, Fleetwood, Foretravel, Winnebago Motor Homes, Buddy Greg Motor Homes, Damon Motor Coach, and Roadtrek are some companies which provide luxurious and functional motor homes with all basic amenities.

Motor homes are ‘living units’ which are constructed on a chassis. They have all the amenities of a home such as bedroom, kitchen, bathroom, electricity, and many more. All that you need is a valid drivers’ license.

Different types of motor homes are available, all tailored to suit different needs. Class A (the bus type), Class B and Class C differ significantly in their size and other aspects. While Class A motor homes are large and roomy, Class C is usually held to be the safest, with air bags and seat belts. The convenience of Class B lies in its ability to be parked wherever one wishes, due to its size.

Diesel- and gas-powered motor homes are also available. Diesel is more fuel-efficient but also noisier than gas-powered homes, which are faster and hence provide better acceleration.

Motor homes can either be bought or rented. Some companies, like Poulsborv, Motor Home Rentals, Cruise America, Bates International Motor Homes and many more, offer homes for rent.

Rates for rental services vary, depending on the type of motor home chosen and other factors. A higher rate normally applies to certain busy months, while discounts are offered in other months.

With comfort and luxuriousness mingled, and usefulness and convenience even better than a hotel room, such motor homes are a must for anyone who wants a truly enriching holiday experience.

Motor Home Summer Vacations

There is nothing more American than a summer trip down the open road, with no particular destination in mind. For many, it's a rite of passage to drive across the country, exploring the landscape via RV. It may not seem like a relaxing way to spend your vacation time, but there's no better way to run away from your troubles than throwing out your planner, muting the cell phone, and giving your laptop a rest.

One of the main perks of recreational vehicles is that you can bring all the comforts of home with you, including plenty of extra passengers (friends and family), pets, a barbecue-anything that you need to have a good time. RVs provide the kind of freedom that is not available with cramped cars and hotel reservations. You can bring as much or as little as you want with you.

Another great reason to take a motor home trip for your summer vacation is the limitless flexibility you'll find. You have the option of camping out in the open, saving a fortune on costly hotels, and you can always drive off the beaten path.

Perfectly planned out vacations can become stressful, defeating the entire purpose of a getaway. A motor home allows you to either break away from your itinerary or avoid one altogether. And if you do decide to get a spa treatment or use room service, most hotels offer parking for recreational vehicles.

Don't let high gas prices dissuade you from plunging into a road trip. With a carefully considered budget, a rented or bought motor home can often save you money in the long run, especially if you want to explore multiple destinations on your trip.

Round trip tickets into one city can be pricey, and they don't include lodging and the new excess luggage fees most airlines charge. If you have a pet or children, you might have to spend even more on qualified sitters. Splitting the price of an RV and gas is another great method to help reduce costs.

If you're riding with friends or other family members, each chipping in a little can make a big difference. You also have the benefit of purchasing food from grocery stores and storing it in the fridge that most motor homes come equipped with, making RVs more cost effective than the initial figures might reveal.

But easily the best reason to take a recreational vehicle across the country is the chance to see and experience the surprises of the open road. The long drive will give you ample opportunity to explore new places that you won't find on the maps. You'll meet far more interesting people than you would in a hotel room, and you'll come away with memorable experiences and stories to share for years to come.

Walking off a plane with a cramp in your foot and a bag of peanuts can never compare to driving through the wilderness with a group of your favorite people, watching as the world unfolds around you. So, the next time you plan your summer vacation, consider throwing out your itinerary, gathering up the kids and the dog, and renting or buying an RV. The world is waiting to be explored.

The next time you want to experience the great outdoors, try taking a road trip across America. A motor home trip offers flexibility, adventure, and can get you out of the rut of planned vacations. To start your motor home trip, visit http://www.bankstonmotorhomes.com.

12 Volt Pumps For Motorhomes, Caravans, Campers and Small Boats

Boats, caravans, and motorhomes use 12 volt pumps in several applications. Fresh water (Potable/drinking water) supply pressure and delivery is maintained by pumps. Sewage or effluent water may be removed with the help of a pump. But what type of pump should be used in a particular application?

All pumps work on the principle of creating a vacuum into which liquid is drawn. Liquid moves into the pump because of the air pressure on the surface of the large body of liquid into which the pump is placed or connected with by an intake pipe or hose. There are two basic ways in which that vacuum is created, and these differences are reflected in centrifugal pumps and diaphragm pumps.

Centrifugal pumps are very simple. A rotating impeller inside the pump forces water away from the centre of the passage, thus creating the vacuum. This design makes them cheap to manufacture, easy to maintain, and submersible. However, they are usually not self-priming, and can't handle many solids in the liquid matrix. They also cannot maintain an even pressure. There is a seal which prevents water from leaking into the motor. If these pumps run dry for very long the seal can be damaged.

Diaphragm pumps are larger and more complicated. They use a drive shaft to raise and lower a flexible diaphragm with each stroke. This changes the pressure inside the pump alternately opening and closing an intake and outflow valve, drawing water through. Diaphragm pumps require more maintenance, are not usually submersible because water should not contact the mechanical parts. They are initially more expensive. Diaphragm pumps are self-priming. Certain diaphragm pumps can handle dirty water and even debris because the liquid does not flow through the moving parts. They can also maintain a steady pressure, however without an accumulator tank water flow can pulse. Also, diaphragm pumps need to be mounted properly to prevent undue vibration.

Motorhome water pumps and caravan water pumps are usually centrifugal pumps. In addition to a submersible pump, an inline booster centrifugal pump can be added. Popular submersible brands of 12V pumps are the Whale GP881,Comet Elegant Immersion; Comet VIP Plus Immersion; and Comet GEO Plus Immersion. These range from a delivery rate of 8 litres/minute to 20 l/m. In size they vary from 38 to 43mm in diameter, making it an easy matter to slip them into the opening of water tanks. The Comet pumps have the ability to be run dry for up to 2 hours without damage, where as the Whale pumps strictly advise against being run dry.

Comet and Reich make inline booster centrifugal pumps. The delivery rate of these ranges from 11 to 18 l/m. These are slightly larger than the submersibles.

Diaphragm 12volt pumps for motorhomes and caravans are the Shurflo, Posiflo, and Fiamma. These pumps range in capability from 15 to 40 pounds per square inch pressure, at delivery rates of 7 to nearly 22 litres per minute. The largest of these is the Fiamma Aqua Pump capable of 10 litres per minute @21.75 psi (1.5bar). With a stainless steel filter and non-toxic parts these pumps are highly sanitary. They are resistant to deposits of scale and rust. Diaphragm pumps will not be damaged if it runs dry.

Marcle Leisure can supply various pump accessories such as additional filters, tubing, foot switches, non-return valves, expansion tanks (accumulators), and inline pressure switches.

Many 12 volt pump options are available from Marcle Leisure for caravan, motorhome, and small boat applications. By paying attention to the various types and brands of pumps and their capabilities the owner of a recreational vehicle can meet any need associated with the movement of liquids.
