How Can I Make Money Delivering Motor Homes?

Are you a professional driver but really do not wish to drive a bus load of people or a truck 1,000s of miles per week across the country? Well have you ever thought of delivering motor homes across the country instead? Here are a couple of the companies that I have heard pay substantial monies to delivery drivers.

  1. Fleetwood in Orlando Florida
  2. Beaver Motor Coach Company
  3. Feather Light Race Car Trailers
  4. Prevost Motor Coaches

Pick up an FMAC Magazine. Nearly all companies who sell Motor Homes have similar deals during peak seasons and many all year around. I have met two people on the road. One in Edinburgh, AZ at the Flying J we talked for an hour in the middle of the night and another one at a Truck Stop on I-70 in Kansas both being paid to deliver with the $2500 figure, wow?

I met another interesting gentleman coming out of Indiana 90 miles to the KY border delivering a coach and told me he was being paid very well. I have met people on nearly every single cross country trip I have been on at some fuel stop in the middle of nowhere with a Motor Home with no plates that they were delivering to a customer or dealer.

This is not "unknown" industry knowledge. There are companies who specialize in this. Many from UT and TX who tow and deliver new 5th wheel trailers which is another variation of the Industry. I think there are probably even dispatching companies out there like the trucking companies have who help drivers pick up return loads or less than load deliveries, I am sure of it, it is a natural progression of the need.

There currently is a 185,000 truck driver shortage in the US, so the need for drivers who can get the job done is series. Would you like more information on RVs?

Caravans and Motorhomes

Being a webmaster of a very popular camping and caravanning website I will get asked many questions on a daily basis and there does always tend to be a recurring theme amongst most of them, namely what is the difference between X type of caravan and Y type of caravan. Well here I hope to explain all of this in some detail so that it will hopefully clear up some of the confusion.

There are only really a few different types of caravans that are worthy of mention, mainly because the other type only generally make up no more than 0.1% of caravans, these being static caravans, touring caravans, motorhomes and park homes.

Static Caravans are generally between 20x8feet (length x width) and 38x14feet and on the whole are placed on a plot of a caravan park for the majority of their lives. Static caravans are not towable on public roads unless a support vehicle is behind the caravan and the roads are rated at over the weight of the caravan, as such they are generally transported on the back of lorries to and from locations. Static caravans are likely to have a lot of modern conveniences that you would expect from a modern home including double glazing, central heating and winter insulation.

Touring caravans are towable by average cars with a tow ball and can be towed to a caravan park where they will generally pay a nightly fee to hire a plot for the duration of their holiday. Touring caravans range from around 9x6feet (length x width) to 16x9feet, as they are towable they have much smaller footprints than static caravans and are made to be much lighter and compact. Due to the size and weight constraints tourers will have less conveniences than a static caravan but newer touring caravans are more and more commonly being manufactured with showers, fridge /freezers, central heating and air conditioning.

Motorhomes are normally roughly the same size of a touring caravan but with an engine, gearbox and all the things needed to drive itself from location to location. A motorhome is essentially a tourer and a car mixed into one neat little package, note that a motorhome in europe is vastly different to a motorhome in America (also know as an R.V or recreational vehicle) as they tend to be huge in comparison. A motorhome will range vastly in size depending on its application, some will be no larger than a regular touring caravan whereas others will be the size of a large bus.

Park Homes and Lodges are more similar to a static caravan than any other type mentioned before as they are comparable in size and the features that are available to them as standard though they will be moved around a lot less than a static caravan and generally will be of a higher spec, and also price. Things such as double glazing, air conditioning, central heating and other luxury features will be a lot more common as a standard feature in park homes and lodges. Park homes also have an advantage over static caravans in that they can increase their value over time making them more akin to a house than a caravan, despite the construction of them being more caravan like.

I am an avid caravanner and love nothing more than getting away for the weekend with my wife and kids. It is this love for caravanning and camping that drove me to create my free to use website http://www.icaravans.com where anyone can advertise their caravan park or caravans and motorhome for hire or sale. I hope you enjoy my article as I spent a lot of time writing it. My family business is also in caravan sales so if you are looking to buy a static caravan please visit http://www.skegness-caravansales.co.uk thank you for taking the time to read my first article, I hope you will enjoy the ones I plan to publish in the future.

Finding Parts for Old Motor Homes; RV Junkyards and Recycling

If you own an older motor home you may have problems finding parts because those models are no longer need built or the manufacturer has gone out of business. Even if you own a new recreational vehicle you may want to find stronger and sturdier parts that are no longer offered on the newer motor homes, but they used to be used on other older motor home series. This is when a good motor home junkyard comes in handy.

Believe it or not there are a lot of motor home junkyards in the United States and they make great places to get parts. Some recreational vehicle junkyards have motor homes that are over 30 years old and that means you can find nearly any part you need. The junkyards are well known to those RV repair shops, which will use them to get parts when they cannot find a part in the catalog they need to repair someone's motor home or recreational vehicle.

There are very large recreational vehicle and motor home junkyards in 13 states and many junkyards do have motor homes in them although they are not specializing in only recreational vehicles. If you need an obscure part for your motor home it makes sense to cruise the junkyards.

I have only been to two RV junkyards. But in each case I had found things that were very valuable and cost very little. Parts, which were stronger than anything you see in the market today. Things I could not get anywhere else and they were not listed in any catalog. Perhaps you might consider this in 2006 and help the world recycle all those old RVs.

A Beginner's Guide to Motorhomes

Are you just starting out in motorhoming? Attracted to the idea but not sure what type of motorhome will suit you?

A good starting point is to understand the different types of motorhome - there are three main types of design.

1. Hightop Van Conversions

Often referred to as campervans, van conversions are generally the smallest and cheapest type of motorhome - which can be an advantage.

Based on so-called panel vans, such as the Ford Transit and the Fiat Ducato, they are generally only a little larger than a family car and are relatively easy to drive, manoeuvre and park - unlike some of their bigger cousins.

Modern conversions are usually very well specified - with heating, toilet, kitchen, running water and often a shower. The only catch is that all of these things are packed into a relatively small space - great for driving but sometimes a little cramped for living in.

Van conversion motorhomes are ideal for the more adventurous or for short breaks, but not necessarily the best choice for luxury or for families.

2. C-Class or Coachbuilt Motorhomes

Coachbuilt motorhomes (sometimes known as Class-C motorhomes) are effectively caravans built onto the back of a van cab and chassis - it may sound a bit Heath Robinson, but these are extremely well made, cleverly-designed and comfortable. They also offer surprising amounts of space, especially when it comes to sleeping berths.

A coachbuilt is probably the best choice for a family, with the overcab area providing ideal sleeping accommodation for children, and the larger interiors giving enough room for 4-6 people to sit and eat.

These motorhomes also tend to have larger kitchens and bathrooms - their extra width helps create more spacious layouts.

3. A-Class or Integrated Motorhomes

The luxury liners of the motorhome world, A-Class motorhomes are purpose-built from the chassis up - apart from the driving controls, there is no trace of "van" about these vehicles - instead they are luxury motorised homes. They are usually a similar size to C-Class motorhomes, but often have only two or three berths - designed for adults to travel in considerable comfort, rather than for fitting large families.

Of course, there are exceptions and A-class motorhomes offering 4-6 berths can also be found. Historically not so popular in the UK, they are becoming more common and have always been so in Europe.

I Almost Forgot…RVs

In principle, American RVs (Recreational Vehicles) are the same as A-Class motorhomes. The difference is in their scale and in the base vehicles used. RVs are built on lorry or coach chassis' and have extremely luxurious interiors, with every facility built in (normally including an on-board generator).

They are extremely large, expensive and luxurious - don't expect to go exploring on European backroads in one of these, as it won't fit. Road tax, fuel costs and insurance will also be considerably higher, as will road tolls.

Making the Choice

Whatever you choose, don't rush into it and make sure you understand the true cost of ownership - including storage (if it is too big for your driveway), insurance, breakdown cover and servicing.

Consider renting a motorhome for a holiday first to see if you like it - a week or two can teach you a lot about what type of motorhome suits you and enables you to try before you buy.

Motorhoming is a great way to travel around the UK and Europe - I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.

Vacating In Motor Homes

Every working individual spends a great amount of money each year to purchase a vacations package at a tourist resort anywhere in the world in order to relax, rejuvenate and leave the stress and anxiety of everyday business behind. However, as much as one might relax at a sunny beach somewhere or enjoy the view from a hotel located on a mountain top, it is certain he or she will have to face a probably rather large bill when the “dream” vacations are unfortunately over. For this and many other reasons, more and more vacationers decide to become motor home owners and reduce their financial deficits over time.

Having to pay daily only for gas and perhaps parking or camping area costs considerably lowers one’s budget and allows for more things to take place. Cutting down vacation costs, however, is only one reason to consider becoming a motor home vehicle owner. Apart from paying an overpriced hotel room, owning a motor home can be a thrilling experience both for families and individuals. Having the ability to pack your bags and drive your motor home wherever you please adds the feeling of excitement and adventure to the equation. In addition, it is, according to many happy campers, pretty fantastic to have the opportunity of traveling with your family or friends and not having to reserve or stress over tickets or hotel availability. Owning a recreational vehicle, the other name for motor home vehicle, allows people to spend as much time as they please to the destination of their liking, without having to pack their bags before they go off to experience something new.

But why should one consider investing in a recreational vehicle, instead of getting in his or her car and drive away? Well, simple things, like the fact that motor home vehicles have less glass than cars, so they do not heat up as fast when parked under the sun, may give another perspective to motor home argument. Due to shades, or curtains, the greenhouse effect is further reduced. Some even have fans or air-condition units that reduce heat inside the space of the vehicle and create a comfortable place for one to live in. Mobility is the next argument, which cannot be easily surpassed. Driving away is always an option and the fact that you do not have to stress about finding another hotel room or packing bags, makes things so much simpler. Finally, recreational vehicles are usually spacious and offer most of the contemporary amenities. With interchangeable features, the morning bench can easily and quickly become the night’s bed, while the luxury of having a bathroom and a kitchen can only be part of the positive things list.

Whether you are an adventurer, have photography as your hobby, or just want to experience the great outdoors with your family and friends, entering a recreational vehicle and driving away can be part of your long weekend plans and not a practice limited to your summer vacations. But before spending some of your life’s savings on a RV, rent one, try it and if you love it, buy it!

Motor Homes - Make Yours Green

You might think that all recreational vehicles are giant energy-wasting gas guzzlers. And while you probably don't want to make your daily work commute via RV, taking a motor home vacation is not going to punch a hole through the ozone layer. If you think that recreational vehicles are just eco-hazards on wheels, you'll be surprised to know that there are many ways to convert your motor home into an earth-friendly vehicle. A few simple tips, like the ones here, can help ensure that your RV trip is environmentally friendly.

  1. Don't waste fuel. Maximize your RV's fuel efficiency by checking the tire air pressure, keeping your vehicle up to date on oil changes and maintenance, and driving safely. If your vehicle is in top notch condition, it will get better gas mileage. Having maps or a GPS system handy will also help minimize unnecessary driving if you happen to get lost. They can also help when you're having trouble finding a suitable campsite for your motor home.
  2. Plan your travels according to the weather. If it's cold, head south. In the heat, drive north. That way you'll stay comfortable and not have to rely on running costly, energy-sucking air conditioners and heaters. To optimize the climate inside your RV even further, consider having solar panels installed on the roof. They can help your motor home run on sun power. Make sure your RV is well insulated and sealed also.
  3. Rough it out. Your motor home may be outfitted with the latest technology and comforts, but you didn't drive hundreds of miles away from home to eat another TV dinner. Avoid using TVs, microwaves, and any other energy-consumer if you really don't have to. The same is true for battery operated devices. You don't want to drain them either. Use the opportunity to learn how to cook over an open flame, build campfires or play board games instead of watching DVDs.
  4. Turn your RV into a recycling center. Just because you're on the road, doesn't mean you shouldn't separate aluminum and plastic. Don't use disposable items if you don't have to. Buy reusable glasses and dishes and wash them once finished. You can also outfit the inside of your RV with recycled goods and furniture. Sharing and trading goods with fellow campers you meet along the way can also be helpful.
  5. Learn how to conserve necessities. Besides energy, you can also learn how to adapt by conserving water and food. Once you begin your travels, you'll find there are times when you simply have no easy access to certain items, making you more aware of how you use them.
  6. Dispose of waste appropriately. If you create waste, make sure you dispose of it properly. Sometimes you just can't recycle or reuse something. When that happens, make sure it gets put in a trash bag. Also, invest in some eco-friendly products to clean up your mess. With some careful planning and attentiveness, your motor home can become a green machine. Ignore the finger wagging commuters in SUVs. Talking to fellow RV enthusiasts on your travels can reveal even more ways that you can contribute to the environment.

Do you think motor homes are not for tree-huggers? Find tips on protecting the environment during your motor home vacation, and search for your new motor home at Bankston Motor Homes.

Three Places You're Sure to Find Motorhomes in the US

The U.S. is a vast nation with a wide network of national parks and historic landmarks that appeal to many travelers. What better way to see some of America's most notable spots than with a motorhome? Motorhomes are, basically, homes away from homes in which travelers can pack their family and friends for a prolonged road trip in style.

Each motorhome model varies in features and accessories, but can usually sleep up to eight passengers comfortably, making the motorhome a cost-saving and efficient way to see America up close and personal. If you're just getting into motorhome travel or have been vacationing in motorhomes for years, be sure to hit up these popular trips for motorhome trekkers:

Yellowstone National Park

Perhaps more than anywhere else in the country, you'll find a plethora of motorhomes in Yellowstone National Park. Yellowstone is home to some of the country's most celebrated wonders, including wildlife, geysers and hot springs. No matter what time of year you head to this well-trafficked national park, you're sure to find something to hold your interest.

One of the reasons that so many travelers choose to vacation in Yellowstone from motorhomes is because of the scarcity of camping sites and hotels within the park itself. Campers often have to book their campsites months in advance, and even hotels can be hard to afford, if they are available. However, a motorhome offers comfortable accommodations anywhere, anytime, facilitating a worry-free trip for all involved.

Route 66

Route 66 is the nation's most celebrated cross-country roads, which connects the east coast to the west coast and back again. The route, which was made famous in the mid twentieth century through popular culture music and artifacts, winds through scenic towns, such as Flagstaff, Arizona, and takes travelers through mile after mile of America's beautiful country side. Folks in motorhomes can drive into one of the many motorhome parks or they can pull into a parking lot for a few hours of sleep before taking in another day of this historical landmark highway.

Interstate 95

How can you get from Key West to Bangor, Maine without turning right? Find Interstate 95! I-95 is the one and only road that connects the east coast's southern-most point to its northern-most point, making it one of the nation's most travelled highways. Drivers will roll through countryside, wine country, sunny beaches, and steep mountains while taking their motorhomes up and down I-95. Plus, with the copious truck stops along the way, motorhome travelers will always have a safe place to pull over for a night's rest.

No matter what you plan to do with your motorhome vacation, be sure to take a full tank of gas, fridge full of snacks, and camera. You'll love winding through the country's back roads, speeding along the highways, and stopping for a comfortable night's rest - even when a hotel isn't in sight. Efficiency, comfort, and style are three attributes for which motorhomes will always be known.

Motor Home Traveling - What You Should Know

Time to plan that family vacation; consider going in a motor home where you will find all the comforts of home and ease in traveling. Motor homes are equipped with the things that you need along the way and are best suited for children. The children can play games, eat their meals and watch television while you are driving down the highway. This means of transportation makes your destination easier to get there because you find that you make fewer stops. You may think that this expensive way to travel because of the cost of gasoline but in reality, it is cheaper when you consider in the cost of motels and restaurants. You can provide your family with comfortable sleeping, good food and activity at about what it would cost if you stayed at home. Yu find along the way there are places that you can spend the night with your motor home and it will not cost you to stay. I know that places like Sam's Club and Wal-Mart permit you to park in there parking lot overnight without cost. Other businesses provide the same service if you need to park and rest before going on towards your destination. There are campgrounds that you can use and connect to in order to take showers etc.

When you do arrive at your destination vacation spot normally, the cost to park your motor home is not expensive unlike the cost of staying at a motel. You are able to go to many places and share many adventures in your motor home with your family making your vacation a memorable time in your family's life. You can pack bicycles on top of your motor home to make getting around much easier finding more places to visit after you have arrived at your vacation destination. You may also use tow bars and take along your car using it for transportation when you have arrived at your vacation destination. You should always search out transportation resources for where you plan on going as you may find that in some areas shuttle bus service is available or other modes that you can use. In any case, once you get to your vacation destination the cost to stay is very low letting you use your funds to do things that are more interesting. There are many exciting places to visit and experiences you will find that are great for your whole family as you drive along in your motor home that you cannot see if you are flying. When you are planning your family leisure trip, remember you can stop at more places and enjoy more sights than any other mode of transportation. Enjoy your family vacation in the motor home of your choice and "happy traveling."

Motor Home Awnings

Motor home awnings are usually firmly attached to one side, mostly on the right side of the living accommodations. The awnings are available in open or enclosed varieties. The enclosable types have fabric or plastic covers at the front and two sides, which allow some privacy to the users. The awnings usually have electrical wiring extended from the motor home to provide lighting during the evening sit outs.

Motor homes are synonymous to camper homes, trailer homes, and even Recreation Vehicles (RVs). In the U.S., they are divided in three classes. First is, Class A motor home, which is constructed on a commercial truck chassis, a specially designed motor vehicle chassis, or a commercial bus chassis. The second is Class B motor home, which is built using a standard van, usually modified with a raised roof or a relatively low-profile body. The third is Class C motor home, which is built on a truck chassis with an attached van type section. The truck chassis may be a pickup or even a large freightliner.

Many motor home owners stay at special motor home parks for a couple of months at a time. These parks usually provide full hookup service for electricity, water and sewerage, and even cable television and wireless Internet connection. The motor home parks offer many amenities, including swimming pools, recreation rooms, and some times even resort-like activities such as horseback riding. The parks allow their customers to erect awnings adjacent to their motor homes. However, staying at such a motor home is usually quite expensive. Therefore many people prefer to stay at public campgrounds with minimal facilities, or at rural or remote locations.

Motor home awnings are usually custom made to suit the length of a specific motor home. Many times, they come pre-installed to the side of the motor home as an accessory. They are usually lightweight retractable type with manual or motorized operating mechanisms.

Motor Homes

Few things are better than traveling, enjoying, and staying close to nature. Whether it is for an outing with friends and family or on some work, motor homes makes such dreams come true. With all the comforts and luxuries of home, they help make a working assignment more easy and a family outing more enjoyable.

Hundreds of companies provide different types, sizes, designs, and colors of motor homes. Tiffin Motor Homes, Fleetwood, Foretravel, Winnebago Motor Homes, Buddy Greg Motor Homes, Damon Motor Coach, and Roadtrek are some companies which provide luxurious and functional motor homes with all basic amenities.

Motor homes are ‘living units’ which are constructed on a chassis. They have all the amenities of a home such as bedroom, kitchen, bathroom, electricity, and many more. All that you need is a valid drivers’ license.

Different types of motor homes are available, all tailored to suit different needs. Class A (the bus type), Class B and Class C differ significantly in their size and other aspects. While Class A motor homes are large and roomy, Class C is usually held to be the safest, with air bags and seat belts. The convenience of Class B lies in its ability to be parked wherever one wishes, due to its size.

Diesel- and gas-powered motor homes are also available. Diesel is more fuel-efficient but also noisier than gas-powered homes, which are faster and hence provide better acceleration.

Motor homes can either be bought or rented. Some companies, like Poulsborv, Motor Home Rentals, Cruise America, Bates International Motor Homes and many more, offer homes for rent.

Rates for rental services vary, depending on the type of motor home chosen and other factors. A higher rate normally applies to certain busy months, while discounts are offered in other months.

With comfort and luxuriousness mingled, and usefulness and convenience even better than a hotel room, such motor homes are a must for anyone who wants a truly enriching holiday experience.
